God’s Goodness Pursues You

God never promises us an easy life. But he promises to carry us through every circumstance.

King David once declared about God: “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever” (Psalm 23:6 NLT).

David knew as well as anyone that bad things happen to good people...

Your Questions Have Been Answered!

Ever want to sit down over a cup of coffee and ask Pastor Rick some questions? Here’s the next best thing. A few weeks ago, in honor of his 65th birthday, Pastor Rick sat down for a wide-ranging interview with Saddleback Church’s longest-serving staff member, Tom Holladay. Pastor Tom asked Pastor Rick a number of questions, including these:

Pastor Rick, when did you come to know Jesus as your savior?

“I came to know Jesus Christ January 24, 1959, four days before my fifth birthday. When I was five years old, I didn’t know any theology, but I did know God made me, Jesus loved me and I wanted to love him back. I had to grow in my faith, but I was genuinely saved at that age.”

What was the biggest surprise of your life?

“When I was 12, I felt God calling me to be a preacher. I told my pastor, and he said, ‘Oh that’s great, Ricky, we’ll line you up in a few weeks to speak.’

How do you understand God’s vision for your life?

“If you spend time with God and get into his Word, you’ll get God’s vision for your life. Stop looking for a vision, start looking for a verse...”

These answers are just the beginning!
