Why is life so hard?

Let’s look at the reasons, results, and right response to the difficulties you face.
Pastor Rick's Daily Hope

juonec4dmodels.poster@blogger.com,

I think you’d agree that these past few months have revealed one glaring truth about the world:

Life is difficult!

The obvious question many people ask is why. Why is life so hard? Why is there suffering in the world? Job even asked that same question in Job 7:1.

But before we can look at God’s strategy for you to not just survive, but to thrive and fulfill your purpose in a broken world, we need to look at what happened first . . . figure out the why.

The answer is given in Romans 5:12, “When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned” (NLT).

So sin has wrecked this world and covered it in darkness. But here’s the great news . . . God sent Jesus as our Savior. In John 16:33, Jesus says this, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (NIV).

There’s no way you can undo all this damage in the world, in your family, or in your own personal life by yourself. You need Jesus!

I remember years ago on a vacation with my family, we had the chance to explore some caverns. If you’ve never experienced total darkness like you find in a cavern when the lights are off, it’s really spooky. I couldn’t see my finger two inches in front of my face!

Then all of a sudden, the park ranger turned on his flashlight and said, “Follow me out.” It was that small light that gave us hope and guided us in the darkness.

In John 8:12, Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (ISV).

Right now on Daily Hope, we’re going through a special series I hope you’ll tune in to hear. It’s called The Invisible War, and as you listen, you’ll learn how to follow Jesus’ light in this dark world so you can experience victory over all the challenges you face—the physical and the spiritual, even the temptations Satan uses to influence us.

We interrupted the first few messages in this series to bring you my most recent teaching, but you can find the full series online, including the messages we skipped like . . .

  • When You Feel Like Giving Up (parts 1-3)
  • Winning the Battle Inside Me (parts 1-4)
  • Set Free from Me (parts 1-4)
  • Making the Hard Changes in Me (parts 1-3)

I hope you’ll listen in today to get equipped to fight—and win—against the darkness!

I’m grateful for you, my friend.
